I have been developing websites inside WordPress CMS system at a very advanced level for quite some time now. As the “next-level-up” from usual WordPress web development I wanted to develop my own plugin for WordPress. I wanted this to be a plugin that is helpful for average level WordPress users. So I decided to convert one of my web application that I have developed while back into a WordPress plugin.

What does this plugin do?

This plugin adds a count down timer to the front-end of your website during maintenance. The back-end (Which is WordPress back-end) makes it easier to manage the settings for count down timer such as: expiration date, percentage completion, currently working on status, newsletter subscriptions, are a few mentions. Front-end with count down timer

By default, this plugin comes with one layout for count down timer which can be customized easily. The layered PSD file also makes it easy to change the color scheme and update the graphics of the front end easily. I am planning on adding multiple themes to selection in the future.

Back-end Settings page

While using the same UI style that is associated with WordPress back-end for custom meta boxes, the main activate and deactivate button has a switch-alike design to it. This button uses Javascript to animate a realistic turning on and off of a switch. Everything that is on the front-end can be updated via this settings page.

Needless to say, I quite enjoyed my new challenge of developing a WordPress plugin and I already have plans for my next plugin. As with any WordPress plugin, my intentions are to add new features to WordPress and make them easier to manage for end-user.
